4Great Rugged and Sleek WatchFeb 18, 2008
There are mainly two different Seiko Automatic Military green watches...the "Seiko 5" and the regular one which this is. I bought this watch for my wife and found it to be a great bargain. Its rugged nylon military-style band wears well and comfortable. The dial is vibrant and easy to read in low lighting conditions. Even the date for Sunday is in red...just in case you forgot to take the day off! One drawback for self-winding watches is you must keep them wound or they lose time. Our watch actually runs fast so we must have it regulated. This is a popular watch around the world as I have seen it in Asia, too. Prices in the US tend to be very high compared to Asia markets. Overall, we are happy with the watch and now I'm shopping for myself in a Men's Seiko 5 Green Military to go with my collection of watches! So much time, no time to wear them all!

5Great watchJan 20, 2008
I'm the outward bound type. After many years in the military I learned I need something that will just works without any hassle. When I'm up the mountains or walking across a desert, I cannot afford for my watch to stop on me. I use my watch for navigation as well, so it's pretty important for me to have absolute reliability.

This watch just goes; No batteries and no worries. With the autowind, this timepiece keeps itself going day in and day out. I only have to adjust the Date on 30 day months but that's a price worth paying knowing that this will not let me down. I cannot afford a flat battery when I'm relying on my watch to confirm a compass direction in terrain with high magnetic anomalies.

This watch is also easy to read in poor light because of the large white hands against the dark background. This is a God send for someone like me with poorer near sight. The Date/day are easy to adjust with just a half pull of the winder - then turning in clockwise to adjust the date and anti-clockwise to adjust the Day.

All in all I'm very please with the watch. This kind of mechanical watch, unlike battery operated, can be repaired and this timepiece should last a life time.
